Through intentional movement, ceremonial postures, breath, meditation, and sacred dance, participants will explore the connection between body, spirit, and the creative energy within. Each week introduces a different aspect of the Nine of Creation, allowing students to experience sacred movement as a spiritual practice, a form of embodied prayer, and a pathway toward greater balance, awareness, and personal transformation. No previous dance experience is necessary. Set sail for a high-energy pirate adventure with a playful fire-prop routine that feels theatrical, mischievous, and larger than life! Join the crew for this fun choreography to be performed at Hip Expression’s Annual Tribal Burn benefit which will help to support our beloved Sacred Lands Educational Preserve. The choreography will be geared toward fans or palms, but other props may be incorporated as well. Each class will build upon the movements learned in the previous session, gradually bringing them together into a complete performance piece. Students will explore: • Classical Pharaonic posture and movement • Graceful arms, hands, and expressive gestures • Traditional belly dance isolations and traveling steps • Sacred and ceremonial movement influences • Veil and candle-dance elements • Musical interpretation and theatrical presentation • Confidence, stage presence, and performance preparation This is more than a dance class. If the keyboard is the 'brain' of Arabic music, the drum is the heart. ❤ Join me for a three-hour live tabla workshop with a professional Egyptian drummer! In this workshop, we will dissect the most common rhythms and show you how to respond to them with intention. We will also demonstrate tips and tricks for interacting with drummers on stage, as well as for improvisation. Finally, we'll work through a tabla choreo or combos that will inspire you choreograph your own drum solos for years to come. ***Separate event page coming for the hafla.*** I'm trying to make this a live music hafla.
